For the use of 3D models in the VR/AR sector, it is essential that they are as performant as possible. For this reason, we have introduced a pipeline with which models can be optimized directly in the media library.
As virtual reality places demanding requirements on the hardware, this optimization is essential to ensure a smooth and immersive experience.
You can see an overview of your 3D models and other media in the media library. Each model has a hamburger menu at the bottom right which can be used to select“Optimize for VR“.
Various settings are now available for optimizing the 3D models. These ensure an optimal display in the VR environment. Complex assets should be optimized with a scene preset, while simple assets should be optimized with a model preset.
This view provides you with additional details on the optimized models:
File: Here you can see the name of the optimized model. As there may be different optimized variants of the same model, there may be several entries with the same name.
Info: This column provides information on the size of the reduced model, the selected pipeline for processing and the presence of animations.
Tag: This column displays tags for the optimization settings used. You also have the option of adding your own tags, for example to identify the employee responsible.
Active: If the model has been activated and is therefore available for display in VR.
Various menu options are available for each model in the VR view:
Download: Here you can download the GLB file of the model.
Preview: This option allows you to display a preview of the model in our external viewer. Open the viewer on your smartphone to project the model in augmented reality (AR) in the room.
QR code: An individual QR code is generated that can be scanned with a smartphone. This opens the model on the phone, where the AR mode can be tested.
